CHAPTER

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATION
5:1.
SUMMARY
The research focused primarily
on the attitude of teachers towards lesson notes writing in Ilorin metropolis
of kwara state
Towards that end, five primary
schools were selected means of stratified random sampling techniques. also, one
hundred teachers were selected as respondents from the sampled schools.
The research instrument was
tittled “teachers attiude towards writing of lesson notes questionnaire” The
statistical toolsused for that analysis were frequently count and percentages
The result
indicate that :
It is necessary for both
relative new and experienced teachers to write lesson notes. It is necessary
for the relatively new teachers to prepare or write detail lesson notes but
experienced ones may be allowed to write summarized lesson notes
Teachers have negative attitude
towards correcting their lesson notes with red ink, especially when such
corrections are wide spread
5:2 Conclusions
It is quite clear from the
result of this study that the teachers (who are the respondents) were of positive
attitude generally towards the preparation of lesson notes. They are of the
view that lesson note writing enhances good teaching learning situation, as
observed by farrants(1981)and Kelly(2002). The only snags are that, they felt
that experienced teachers may write not so detailed lesson notes while new
entrants into the teaching profession as well as those on teaching practice
need to write highly detailed lesson notes.
The respondents did not see
anything wrong in correcting the notes but prevalence of red ink correction
upsets there
5:3. Implication of the study
This study has analyzed the
attitude of teachers towards the writing of lesson notes in primary schools in
Ilorin metropolis with a view to provide solution for improvement and educate
the teacher’s or student teaches to acquaint themselves towards the writing of lesson notes which
will eventually lead to efficiency and effectiveness and thus enhance greater
performance
Infact the writing of lesson
notes is a significant area of aspect of teaching which should be given higher consideration because is the
bedrock of all educational attainment, be it secondary or tertiary education
5:4. Recommendation
In view of the result obtained
in this research the following recommendations are hereby made:-
1. A
teacher should be given moderate (and average) numbers of periods per week so
that he will be able to write effective and detailed lesson plans on each
lesson. It is suggested that three to four lessons per day should be alright
2.There
should br good remunerations for teachers in from of salaries, allowances,
promotions, regular upward review of
conditions of service etc so as to motivate devoted teaches by preparing good
lesson notes
3. There
should be regular opportunities for teaches to attend various staff development
programmes such as study-leave-with pay and in-service-training as well as
regular far and near professional conference, workshops and seminars that will
undoubtedly boost them on the job performance, especially the art of lesson
note writing
4. The
head master, assistance headmaster, and heads of department (who are usually
charged with the responsibility of reading and correcting teachers lesson
notes)need to be friendly and human in dealing with the writers of such notes,
no doubt, all errors and fallacies must be pointed out and corrected , but the
teachers concerned should be call upon
so that the better ways of witting the lesson notes can be explained to them in
a friendly manner.
5.
Finally, teacher should feel too big or experienced to be corrected or to
accept valid correction. Unnecessary arrogance has no place in teaching and
such behavior should be discontinuance and if it continues sections should be
meted on the offenders
5:5. Limitation of the study
